Learning about Scotland

Rodrigo Loma, Pilar Garcia y Elsa Rubio, 2 ESO C

Some weeks ago, we were given a talk about Scotland. It was done by Jeremy Brock.

He told us a lot of interesting things about this country. We learned some important information. For example, he explained us that there are a lot of mountains. The highest one is called Ben Nevis. However, most of the people live out of the mountains. There are many different sheep, even more than humans.

The ships are very big. He also told us that there are coal minings. There are also a lot of trains in this country.

He explained us that fishing is also very important and seafood is very good.

Jeremy talked us about whisky. He said that you can buy the best whisky in the supermarket. There are two different words: whisky and whiskey. Whisky means Scotch (Scottish) and whiskey means the Irish and American liquors.

The Forth Bridge is very old. It was built in 1890.

There are a lot of castles and museums in this country. Men sometimes wear skirts which are called kilt. The typical dance is called Ceilidh.

The Loch Ness is also very famous.

We liked the talk so much. We think that it was very interesting. We would like to attend to a similar talk again. We had a good time and we learned a lot of things.

The magic English teacher

The Magic English Teacher show is a show for students of English as a foreign language. The magician combines the use of verbal descriptions and gestures to facilitate comprehesion. The students feel motivated and willing to understand Jack.

 Vera Robles 1º ESO A
